Barcelona to re-sign Jan Virgili, as Real Betis lie in wait

La Liga champions Barcelona are close to bringing Jan Virgili back to the club from RCD Mallorca.

This comes with a view to sending the young attacker straight out on loan for the 2026/27 campaign.

Winger Virgili was granted a permanent departure from Barcelona just last summer, linking up with the aforementioned Mallorca in search of regular first-team minutes.

And the 19-year-old went on to find precisely that at Son Moix, enjoying a breakout season on his way to two goals and six assists in 31 La Liga appearances.

Mallorca’s subsequent relegation, in turn, saw Virgili’s future immediately cast into the spotlight, amid interest from a host of top-flight clubs.

And if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then developments surrounding the starlet now appear all but imminent.

As per a report from transfer journalist Nil Solà of Cadena SER:

‘Barça are working to close the signing of Jan Virgili and loan him to Ral Betis. The deal is not closed yet, but it’s well on track and the intention is for it to happen.’

Barcelona intend to make use of a €7.2 million buyback clause included in the deal which sent Virgili to Mallorca 12 months ago.
