Barcelona to be afforded fresh shot at cut-price deal for Serie A star next summer

La Liga giants Barcelona will be afforded a fresh opportunity to bring Denzel Dumfries to the club from Inter Milan next year.

This comes amid confirmation of the Dutchman’s much-discussed cut-price release clause being set to come back into play.

Right-back Dumfries was of course hotly tipped for a move to Barcelona this past summer.

Amid a search for reinforcements at full-back with a view to the current campaign, Deco and co. are understood to have taken into serious consideration a swoop for the 29-year-old.

As much came in large part owing to the presence of a €25 million release clause in his Inter contract.

In the end, the Blaugrana opted against the move, with the Dumfries train therefore said to have come and passed following the expiration of the aforementioned clause.

But according to Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), this is far from the case.

The €25 million figure in Dumfries’ deal at San Siro will come back into play next summer and beyond, labelled in Italy as ‘cyclical’.

Barcelona, as a result, will be afforded a fresh shot at a bargain deal for the explosive wing-back in 2026.
