La Liga giants Barcelona have on Friday been tipped to launch an offensive for an out-of-favour member of the defensive ranks at Tottenham Hotspur.
The player in question? Sergio Reguilón.
The name of left-back Reguilón is of course one which will be altogether familiar to long-time followers of La Liga.
As much comes with the 27-year-old having made his name on the books of none other than Barcelona’s arch rivals, Real Madrid.
A stellar season-long loan stint with Sevilla then proved enough for the aforementioned Tottenham to swoop for his signature, back in the summer of 2020.
Reguilón has since endured something of a hit-and-miss spell in north London, farmed out on a series of loans over recent seasons.
Now, though, with just a solitary year remaining on his Spurs contract, the defender has been linked with a move back to Spain, with one of the country’s leading clubs.
As per a report from Lyall Thomas of Sky Sports:
‘Barcelona have been making inquiries about Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon.’
The Blaugrana are understood to be ‘exploring’ the conditions of a potential deal with Tottenham, albeit with talks, as things stand, still at a preliminary stage.
