Barcelona think they know the reason for Ter Stegen’s ‘anger’ with the club

An alleged explanation for the ongoing backlash against La Liga giants Barcelona on the part of club captain Marc-André ter Stegen has been forthcoming online.

This, of course, comes fresh off another day which has seen the German’s name dominate the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

Already in the bad books at Barcelona, Ter Stegen on Tuesday took matters a step further.

This came by way of informing the Camp Nou brass that he has no intention of signing the club’s medical report regarding his recent surgery and ensuing injury recovery.

As a result, as things stand, the Blaugrana will not be able to use the 33-year-old’s freed wages to register one of their summer signings with La Liga.

As much comes after it was also revealed that Ter Stegen had rejected Barca’s offer to accompany him for his surgical procedure in France last week.

And as alluded to above, this evening, an explanation for this strangely malicious behaviour on the part of the shot-stopper has been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, who have revealed that:

‘At the Barcelona club, they believe that the basis of Ter Stegen’s anger is economic because not playing the last game of the 2024-25 La Liga season in Bilbao prevented him from playing 60 percent of the games he was available for and he lost out on 3.5 million euros.’
