Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad were left surprised by the position in which teammate Andreas Christensen was utilised during the October international break.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
Defender Christensen is for his part fresh off a pair of fine performances on the international front over the last week.
Afforded a starting berth in Denmark’s World Cup qualifying fixtures against Belarus and Greece, the former Chelsea man continued to showcase his talents on both sides of the ball.
It was his role in the latter outing, though, which turned heads back in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes after Christensen was made use of in an orthodox right-back role, a rarity across his career to date.
So much so that, as per a report from Sport:
‘Andreas Christensen played the 90 minutes at right-back. A change in scheme that left many, including teammates in the Barça dressing room, surprised.’
