Barcelona stars increasingly convinced Xavi will stay for next season

A contingent of the dressing room at La Liga giants Barcelona are becoming more and more convinced that head coach Xavi is primed to stay put beyond the close of the campaign.

That’s according to Relevo, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.

It is of course common knowledge that, as things stand, Xavi is set to bring an end to his stint on the Barcelona bench this summer.

As much comes after the Spanish tactician, late in January, announced his decision to step down, in the best interest of both parties.

Amid a considerable recent upturn in form on the part of the Blaugrana, though, club president Joan Laporta, and vice president Rafa Yuste, have made public time and time again that they maintain hope of Xavi, when all is said and done, seeing out the remaining year of his contract.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then the efforts of the Barca brass to convince the club’s headmaster of the merits of staying put appear to be making their mark.

As per the aforementioned Relevo, a growing number of the Catalan outfit’s stars ‘think that Xavi will back down and continue on the bench’ for the 2024/25 campaign.

Barca’s squad see their manager as boasting a ‘different spirit’ to that earlier in the term, having ‘freed himself’ from the intense outside pressure.

It now remains to be seen whether as much proves enough to push Xavi over the line, to continue in the Camp Nou dugout.
