Barcelona stars hand injury returnee a training ground ‘guard of honour’

Barcelona star Marcos Alonso marked his long-awaited return to training in Catalunya’s capital on Wednesday.

And, upon his emergence onto The Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper grass, the rest of Xavi’s squad were quick to provide the Spanish international with a warm welcome back.

Alonso, for his part, has not featured for Barcelona since all the way back in November.

This comes owing to a back injury, which ultimately saw the former Chelsea man forced under the knife following the turn of the year.

Having begun to ramp up his recovery efforts over the last couple of weeks, though, on Wednesday, Alonso was at long last given the green light to rejoin the rest of Xavi’s squad in first-team training.

And, as showcased in the photo below, the veteran defender was afforded with a special ‘guard of honour’, as a show of appreciation on the part of his Barcelona teammates:
