Barcelona star’s departure moves a step closer after being left out of squad vs Mallorca

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Saturday seen his departure from the club move a step closer.

The player in question? Héctor Fort.

The name of youngster Fort has of course taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the course of the last couple of weeks.

This comes amid the understanding that the 19-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements in Hansi Flick’s squad.

Fort, in turn, is expected to be farmed out on loan over the days ahead.

And as alluded to above, on Saturday, Hansi Flick and his coaching staff dropped a fresh hint that such a move is now closer than ever before.

Barcelona are primed to kick the defence of their La Liga title into gear later this evening, in a meeting with RCD Mallorca at Son Moix.

Fort, however, has not been afforded a call-up, left at home to finalise his move away from the Camp Nou.
