Barcelona starlet trains with first team before Newcastle

An up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona was spotted training alongside the club’s first-team squad on Monday.

The player in question? Xavi Espart.

Espart, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old defender, who chiefly operates at right-back.

The Spaniard, who is currently plying his trade with Barca Atlétic, has long been tipped as a potential future star in the making.

And as alluded to above, early this week, Espart was afforded the chance to prove his talents alongside the Blaugrana’s star-studded senior squad.

Fresh off overseeing his side’s La Liga drubbing of Valencia on Sunday, Hansi Flick afforded a call-up to Barca’s talented young full-back.

As much comes amid ongoing preparations for the club’s European season opener against Newcastle United later this week.

Despite his presence at the Ciutat Esportiva on Monday, it is considered unlikely that Espart will be part of the travelling party bound for St. James’ Park.
