Barcelona star wanted by Wolves this summer

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona has made his way onto the transfer radar of Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

That’s according to Spanish transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who points towards Gerard Martín as the player in question.

Defender Martín is for his part of course fresh off something of a breakout campaign in Catalunya’s capital in 2024/25.

Afforded the chance to impress by incoming Barcelona boss Hansi Flick, the 23-year-old took full advantage, on his way to a considerable 42 appearances across all competitions.

Along the way, Martín also chipped in with a goal and six assists.

The fact remains, though, that the Spanish youth international is the 2nd-choice left-back in Hansi Flick’s squad.

When both are fit and available, Alejandro Balde is the clear-cut first-choice.

And keen to take advantage of this situation, it is understood, are the aforementioned Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Set to bid an imminent farewell to Manchester City-bound Rayan Aït-Nouri, Wolves are on the lookout for reinforcements at left-back.

And according to journalist Matteo Moretto, Gerard Martín has been identified as one such target on the part of the Molineux board.
