Barcelona star Fermín López has on Tuesday undergone successful surgery on his right foot.
This comes ahead of a long-term incoming spell on the treatment table for the attacking midfielder.
Spaniard Fermín for his part suffered an injury setback this past weekend, en route to Barcelona’s 3-1 La Liga victory over Real Betis.
After featuring from the off in the fixture, the 23-year-old was replaced by Alejandro Balde with 45 minutes on the clock.
The Blaugrana subsequently announced on Monday that Fermín had picked up a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot.
And as alluded to above, a day on, the Spaniard has taken his first step towards recovery.
As per a report from Carrusel Deportivo:
‘Fermín López has already undergone surgery for his injury to the fifth metatarsal of his right foot. The FC Barcelona player faces an estimated three-month absence.’
Fermín, as expected, has therefore been ruled out of the fast-approaching World Cup.
