Barcelona star Marc Casadó will be the man chosen to replace Pedri in the club’s starting XI to face Elche.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Saturday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital.
Barcelona were of course dealt a heavy blow this week, upon confirmation arriving that midfield standout Pedri is in line for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Owing to a hamstring injury, the 22-year-old could be unavailable for selection for the best part of the next two months.
As much leaves manager Hansi Flick with something of a dilemma in his engine room ranks.
Whilst Frenkie de Jong will continue in his role as deep-lying conductor, the Dutchman will require a new partner for the weeks ahead.
The first audition to fill this role is set to come on Sunday, when Barcelona play host to newly-promoted Elche.
And according to Sport, primed to step in in Pedri’s place for the evening is Marc Casadó.
This will make for a midfield three of De Jong, Casadó, and Fermín López.
