La Liga giants Barcelona look set to be forced to make do without the contributions of star goalkeeper Joan García for the weeks ahead.
This comes owing to developments in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Newcastle United.
Hansi Flick’s troops were of course back in action earlier this evening, welcoming Premier League outfit Newcastle to Catalunya’s capital for a Champions League clash.
The aforementioned Joan for his part featured from the off in the fixture, taking his place between the hosts’ posts at the Camp Nou.
En route to a remarkable 7-2 Barca victory, however, the Spaniard was hauled off late on.
After Joan pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular issue, Hansi Flick took no chances in immediately introducing Wojciech Szczęsny to the fray.
And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Szczęsny could well be set for a run of further appearances over the coming weeks.
As per a report from Barcelona insider Javier Miguel:
‘Joan Garcia: 2 to 3 weeks KO (ruled out) due to a small tear in the calf of the left leg.’
