An insight into the updated wage packet awaiting Frenkie de Jong as part of his new contract has this weekend been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, citing Cadena SER, who have confirmed that De Jong is in line for a wage reduction.
The Dutchman and his representatives have been locked in talks with Barcelona for some time now.
As much comes as the two parties seek to extend De Jong’s terms beyond their current expiration in the summer of 2026.
After the former Ajax man recently changed agents, discussions between the parties took a major step forward.
So much so that the framework on the terms of an agreement through 2029 has been put in place.
And as alluded to above, on Saturday, the details of the financial package awaiting De Jong in Catalunya’s capital for the next three years has been forthcoming.
As per a report from Sport:
‘As confirmed by the ‘Què T’hi Jugues’ programme on ‘Cadena SER’, explaining that the Dutch midfielder’s contract will be at the same level as Pedri’s. That is, around 12 million euros gross. Just like Dani Olmo when he signed for Barça last summer.’
