A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to be afforded a starting role for Spain in the country’s upcoming round of World Cup qualifiers.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ferran Torres as the player in question.
Frontman Ferran is for his part of course fresh off a fine start to the new campaign in Spain.
After Robert Lewandowski picked up an injury problem late in pre-season, the former Manchester City man was tasked with taking up the centre-forward role against both Mallorca and Levante.
And Ferran went on to respond with important goals in both games.
And if the latest word stemming from the media this week is anything to go by, the significance of as much has not been at all lost on the part of Spanish national team boss Luis de la Fuente.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Luis de la Fuente will call Ferran up on Friday for the matches against Bulgaria and Turkey in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. On this occasion he will have the role of 9 of the team to take advantage of his excellent moment of form and adaptation to the position.’
