Barcelona star speaks out on summer transfer links

Barcelona star Fermín López has this week spoken publicly for the first time regarding the heavy speculation linking him with a move away from the club this summer.

The name of midfielder Fermín of course dominated the headlines across Spain and England alike over the final weeks of the transfer window.

This came after word was forthcoming that Premier League outfit Chelsea had set their sights on the signature of the 22-year-old.

The Blues, in fact, went as far as to table an opening offer for Fermín’s services.

In the end, no such transfer was forthcoming, with the youngster having stayed put through Monday’s deadline.

And as alluded to above, in the aftermath of as much, Fermín has himself moved to clear the air.

Speaking during an interview with Mundo Deportivo (as cited by Fabrizio Romano), the Spanish international firmly denied claims that he was keen on joining Chelsea, explaining:

“My priority has always been Barcelona. This club is my dream since I was a kid. It is always a compliment that there is interest from other clubs, but the truth is that I always wanted to stay and succeed at Barça”.
