Barcelona star Anthony Gordon enjoyed an outing of note for a whole host of reasons on Saturday evening, as Hansi Flick’s troops made short work of Getafe.
The Blaugrana marked their return to action a short time ago, welcoming Getafe to the Spotify Camp Nou with sights on a 9th win from nine to open the campaign.
When all was said and done, the reigning Spanish champions managed precisely that, courtesy of a comfortable 3-0 triumph.
The aforementioned Anthony Gordon, meanwhile, featured from the off on the evening, and set the scoring in motion inside the opening two minutes of action.
Dancing his way inside from the left flank, the summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital saw his deflected strike find the net, marking his very first goal in Barcelona colours.
As alluded to above, though, Gordon’s finish proved a noteworthy one for several other reasons, too… A per a report from statisticians Opta:
‘Anthony Gordon has become the tenth English player to score in La Liga in the 21st century. It is the earliest goal scored by any player in the competition this season (78 seconds).
‘Additionally, it is the earliest goal by an English player in the competition throughout the entire 21st century.’
