Barcelona star ruled out of Aston Villa clash

La Liga giants Barcelona will not yet be fortunate enough to welcome back a member of the club’s sidelined contingent, for their next outing.

This comes amid confirmation that Andreas Christensen has not yet been given the medical green light for competitive action.

Stopper Christensen has for his part sparked hope in Catalunya’s capital over recent days. Amid the ongoing personnel crisis in Hansi Flick’s backline, the Dane has been spotted back in group training alongside his teammates.

It had in turn been murmured that Christensen could mark his much-needed return in Barcelona’s Champions League meeting with Premier League outfit Aston Villa on Tuesday.

As alluded to above, though, this will not prove to be the case. Speaking during his latest pre-match press conference on Monday, Hansi Flick confirmed:

“Christensen? He trained with us yesterday but only a little bit. We will have to see if he’s available at the weekend. For now, he’s out for tomorrow.”
