Barcelona star Jules Koundé has revealed that he sent a lighthearted message the way of fellow countryman Kylian Mbappé over recent days.
This of course comes ahead of the fast-approaching showdown between the pair in El Clásico.
Frontman Mbappé, for his part, will be hopeful of keeping a live a scintillating recent stretch of goalscoring form on Sunday, at the expense of Real Madrid’s arch rivals.
Hopeful of the former PSG man firing a blank on Sunday evening, though, is compatriot and international teammate Koundé.
Speaking during an as-of-yet unreleased interview with Téléfoot this week, Barca stalwart Koundé admitted:
“The Clásico? I spoke to Kylian, I told him to save his goals for France NT and for the World Cup in June (laughs).”
Turning focus back towards the 2024/25 campaign, despite Real Madrid’s collective struggles against Barcelona, Mbappé enjoyed a solid time of things in the Clásico.
All told, across four meetings between the two clubs, the Frenchman managed to find the net five times.
All associated with Real Madrid will now be hopeful that further Mbappé goals help to turn around their recent fortunes against Barca on Sunday.
