Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has taken firm aim at referee Jesús Gil Manzano on Sunday evening.
This came owing to developments in the Blaugrana’s La Liga meeting with Real Sociedad.
Barcelona were of course back in action a short time ago, making the trip to Anoeta for a La Liga meeting with La Real.
When all was said and done, Hansi Flick’s troops were condemned to the wrong side of a surprise 2-1 result.
This came owing to goals on the part of Mikel Oyarzabal and Gonçalo Guedes, either side of a Marcus Rashford equaliser.
Upon the full-time whistle bringing a close to proceedings, Barcelona were left understandably frustrated, after rattling the woodwork four times across the 90 minutes.
And as alluded to above, speaking to the media post-match, Frenkie de Jong opted to take out his anger on referee Jesús Gil Manzano.
Taking issue with the manner of the Spanish official, midfielder De Jong sniped:
“The referee (Gil Manzano)… you can’t even talk to him. He looks at me with a face like ‘I’m better than you.’ It’s very frustrating. I’m the captain. I say something to him and he pulls out a card on me.”
