Barcelona star Gerard Martín has taken to social media, to unveil a photo of a wonderful gift sent his way by AC Milan and Italian icon Paolo Maldini.
The gift in question? A signed jersey.
For those not aware, Martín has been christened with a new nickname this season, on the part of Barcelona’s fans and his teammates alike.
Amid a string of stellar performances at the back for Hansi Flick’s side, coupled with his ability to play at either left-back or centre-back, the 24-year-old was fondly dubbed ‘Gerard Maldini’.
And as alluded to above, word of as much, at some point over recent months, evidently reached Maldini himself.
Widely considered one of the standout defenders in the history of world football, the 57-year-old sent one of his old AC Milan jerseys to Martín for his birthday, accompanied by the following message:
‘To Gerard… Best wishes for a happy birthday, and good luck in your career! With affection, Paolo Maldini.’
