A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona was today the recipient of a personal phone call on the part of Spanish national team boss Luis de la Fuente.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Helena Condis of COPE, who points towards Gavi as the player in question.
Youngster Gavi is for his part of course in the midst of an altogether difficult week to date.
After being informed that he would be required to undergo surgery on the same knee in which he previously tore the ACL, the 21-year-old was expected to be ruled out for a period of four to six weeks.
Unfortunately for club and player alike, however, the outcome has since proven to be altogether more extenstive.
As confirmed in a post across Barca’s website and social media platforms, Gavi is in fact set for four to five months on the treatment table.
The midfielder, always eager for time on the pitch, is understood to have taken the news understandably poorly.
As alluded to above, in an effort to keep Gavi’s spirits up, Spanish national team manager Luis de la Fuente therefore made contact with the player earlier today.
As per a report from COPE:
‘Both Luis de la Fuente and Karanka took the initiative to call Gavi to try to lift his spirits.’
