Barcelona star Gavi has revealed his take that Aurélien Tchouaméni should have been suspended by Real Madrid for his part in a recent training ground blowout with teammate Federico Valverde.
Midfielders Tchouaméni and Valverde of course grabbed the headlines across world football earlier this month.
This came after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the pair had been involved in a physical altercation at Real Madrid’s training ground.
The face-off culminated in Valverde being taken to hospital, ruled out of action for two weeks with a head injury.
Tchouaméni, on the other hand, emerged unscathed, and even went on to play his part in Los Blancos’ clash with arch rivals Barcelona the same weekend.
Of the opinion that this should not have proven the case, though, is the aforementioned Gavi.
Drawn on the Valdebebas incident during an interview with Mundo Deportivo (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Blaugrana midfielder Gavi explained:
“Tchouaméni-Valverde? If you fight using your hands, in my view the coach should not let you play the next game. If it’s true… in my opinion, it was a mistake to play (Tchouaméni) in El Clásico. But I do not know what really happened.”
