Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid have on Tuesday seen their Champions League hopes brought to an end in devastating fashion yet again.
And in the process, Barcelona star Raphinha has seen his post-quarter-final prediction proven correct.
Atlético marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Premier League leaders Arsenal for a Champions League semi-final 2nd-leg showdown.
When all was said and done, the Rojiblancos were condemned to the wrong side of a 1-0 result, giving rise to a 2-1 aggregate defeat.
This means that Diego Simeone’s troops will finish the 2025/26 campaign without silverware.
Not only that, but it also means that the aforementioned Raphinha has been validated for his recent dig at Atlético.
After Barcelona were sent packing from Europe at the hands of Atléti last month, winger Raphinha was caught on camera assuring the home fans at the Metropolitano that:
“You’ll go home next round.”
And unfortunately for those of a Rojiblancos persuasion, this prediction has since proven to be spot on…
