A member of the summer recruitment drive at La Liga champions Barcelona looks set to miss the opening fixture of the club’s 2024/25 campaign.
The player in question? Marcus Rashford.
The subject of frontman Rashford’s status for Barcelona’s meeting with RCD Mallorca on Saturday has of course dominated the headlines across the week to date.
This comes as Deco and co. continue to work frantically behind the scenes in an effort to register the Englishman in time for the clash.
The registration of goalkeeper Joan García remains the priority, albeit with reports having long assured that the Blaugrana were confident of Rashford being at the disposal of boss Hansi Flick this weekend, too.
As alluded to above, however, if the latest word stemming from Spain on Friday is anything to go by, then such confidence now appears to be fading.
As per a report from journalist Alfredo Martínez:
‘It is highly unlikely Rashford will be registered in time for the match against Mallorca.’
