Barcelona star ‘likely’ to miss upcoming fixtures

Barcelona star Andreas Christensen looks set to miss the club’s next couple of outings through injury.

This comes owing to a setback suffered on Tuesday.

Defender Christensen early this week linked back up with the rest of Hansi Flick’s squad in training at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As much came in the aftermath of a minor calf issue suffered last month.

On Tuesday, amid efforts to ramp up his recovery in time to face Club Brugge, however, the Dane was dealt a fresh blow.

After feeling a fresh problem, he retired from training prematurely, heading straight to the dressing room for treatment.

The former Chelsea man has not been called up to face Brugge as a result.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then Christensen is unlikely to be available this coming weekend, either.

As per a report from Barcelona insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS:

‘It remains to be seen whether the discomfort is serious enough to keep him out of action in Barcelona, but given the player’s history, it seems likely he will remain sidelined.’

Christensen is therefore considered to be all but ruled out against Celta Vigo on Sunday.
