A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona was omitted from the club’s latest matchday squad to afford him time to find a new club.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Gerard Romero, who points towards Héctor Fort as the player in question.
Full-back Fort has for his part of course taken his place centre stage in the media chatter surrounding Barcelona for several weeks now.
This comes with confirmation that the 19-year-old has fallen out of favour under Hansi Flick having been followed by transfer links with a whole host of clubs.
Fort, in turn, was not afforded a call-up to Barca’s squad for the club’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
And as alluded to above, an insight into precisely why has since been provided.
As per a report from journalist Gerard Romero:
‘Héctor Fort is also not traveling to Madrid. The footballer is leaving the Sports City right now, pending resolving his future. If Maffeo leaves, Mallorca awaits him.’
