Barcelona star isn’t performing up to the level expected by Hansi Flick and his staff

A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is drawing question marks when it comes to the level of his performances thus far this season.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who highlight Alejandro Balde as the player in question.

Balde has for his part of course spent the early months of the new campaign reestablishing himself as first-choice on the left of manager Hansi Flick’s backline.

This comes after the youngster was forced to sit out the final months of the 2024/25 season through injury.

Balde, despite some lingering fitness concerns, has once more firmly ousted Gerard Martín as the starting left-back in Catalunya’s capital.

And yet, en route to doing so, the Spanish international has not overly impressed the Barcelona coaching staff.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who have confirmed that, in the eyes of Flick and his staff, ‘he isn’t making the difference as much as expected and is appearing in some questionable situations’.

Barcelona, as a result, are considering dipping into the market for full-back reinforcements.
