An out-of-favour member of the goalkeeper ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona is doing his utmost to put the conditions in place for him to secure a departure from the club before the summer is out.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Iñaki Peña as the player in question.
It has of course long been common knowledge across Spain that shot-stopper Peña does not feature in Barcelona’s plans for the season ahead.
Following the summer arrival in Joan García in Hansi Flick’s squad, the 26-year-old has tumbled all the way down to 4th-choice in the pecking order between the posts in Catalunya’s capital.
A number of clubs, in turn, are understood to have made clear their interest in a deal for Peña across the summer to date.
And if the latest word stemming from the media on Thursday is anything to go by, then the Spaniard appears eager to seal a move to one such suitor as soon as possible.
As per a report from MD:
‘Iñaki Peña, 26, is doing everything he can to secure his exit from FC Barcelona. The Alicante-born goalkeeper is aware that Hansi Flick doesn’t count on him and he doesn’t want to be an obstacle for the Catalan club.’
Peña, in turn, is expected to depart Barca on loan any day now.
