Barcelona star has rejected €100m Saudi offers two summers in a row

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona this summer knocked back a staggering financial proposal from the Middle East for the 2nd year in succession.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Saudi outlet 365Scores, who point towards Robert Lewandowski as the player in question.

Frontman Lewandowski is for his part of course fresh off a hugely productive campaign in Barcelona’s colours last time out.

Despite his advancing years, the Pole was on target to the tune of a hefty 42 goals across all competitions, key to the Blaugrana’s domestic treble.

As alluded to above, though, had Lewandowski opted for money over sporting merit, things could have been altogether different for club and player alike heading into the new term…

This comes amid confirmation on the part of Sport that, after super agent Pini Zahavi revealed that Lewandowski had rebuffed a €100m-per-year offer from the Middle East 12 months ago, he did likewise this past summer:

‘365Scores confirms that this summer there was also an offer of 100 million euros per year to which incentives and variables would have to be added. However, the player’s agent requested a postponement of the negotiations due to the Polish striker’s desire to continue at Barça for the time being.’
