Barcelona star Andreas Christensen has agreed to an altogether considerable wage reduction, to ensure his continuity with the club beyond the summer.
This comes ahead of an imminent announcement regarding a contract renewal for the Dane.
Christensen’s current terms in Catalunya’s capital are set to expire on June 30th, after which the defender would technically become a free agent.
The Camp Nou brass, though, have long been working hard to tie Christensen down to a new deal.
The former Chelsea man remains held in high regard by manager Hansi Flick, who appreciates Christensen for his abilities on and off the ball alike.
Despite his long-term fitness woes, Barcelona are therefore keen to keep hold of the 30-year-old through next season and beyond.
And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then an accord between the parties now appears to be in place.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Christensen’s renewal by Barça is about to be announced. He has accepted the economic conditions imposed on him by the club, with a salary reduction that goes beyond half of what he has received in recent years.’
