Barcelona star hailed by country’s press for latest international performance

Barcelona youngster Roony Bardghji has this week come in for some well-earned praise in the national media.

This comes owing to his latest efforts whilst lining out in the colours of Sweden.

Attacker Bardghji was for his part in from the off on Tuesday night, as Sweden locked horns with Slovenia in a World Cup qualifier.

The 20-year-old was utilised in a central playmaker berth, an alteration to his usual role out wide.

And Bardghji responded with a fine individual showing, showcasing exactly why the Barcelona brass pushed so hard for his signature over the summer.

As much culminated in widespread praise in the Swedish press, with Helsingborgs Dagblad newspaper (as cited by Diario Sport) having written:

“Roony Bardghji, playing as a playmaker, showed why sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick wanted him to join Barcelona this summer. Against Slovenia he showed dribbling, speed, vision of the game, audacity and his courage. The message from the 20-year-old was clear: he wants to fight for a place in Barça’s strongest starting eleven.”

The Swedish fanbase backed such a viewpoint, with Bardghji having secured for himself Man of the Match honours on the part of his compatriots.

Media outlet Tengblad, meanwhile, added that:

“Potter made nine changes because there were nine players threatened with suspension and changed the usual system. He started with a 4-4-2 and Roony played as more of a ’10’ down to midfield. I think he played very well and was the most imaginative player of the game.”
