Barcelona star Marc-André ter Stegen is keen on a mid-season move to Catalan rivals Girona.
This comes amid mutual interest on the part of the two parties in a joining of forces for the 2nd half of the campaign.
Ter Stegen is of course viewed as a likely departure from Barcelona this winter.
Down the pecking order between the posts in Hansi Flick’s squad, the 33-year-old is in need of a more prominent role, to ensure his place in Germany’s ranks for the 2026 World Cup.
And if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, then a frontrunner appears to be emerging in the race for Ter Stegen’s services.
As per a report from Diario Sport:
‘Ter Stegen is targeting (a move) to Girona.’
Those in the boardroom at the Estadi Montilivi are known to be on the hunt for a new shot-stopper, amid the ongoing struggles of Paulo Gazzaniga.
If an agreement regarding a wage split between Barca and Girona can be found, then Ter Stegen could in turn spend the months ahead lining out in red and white.
