Barcelona star equalled an unwanted Gerard Piqué record vs Chelsea

Barcelona star Ronald Araújo secured for himself an unwanted place in the club’s history books on Tuesday night.

This came owing to his red card in the Blaugrana’s meeting with Chelsea.

Barcelona are of course fresh off an evening to forget on the continent on Tuesday.

After making the trip to Stamford Bridge to take on the aforementioned Chelsea in a Champions League clash, Hansi Flick’s troops were condemned to a 3-0 defeat.

Ronald Araújo played a central role in as much, leaving his teammates with 10 men after being needlessly sent off for a reckless challenge on Marc Cucurella late in the first-half.

And as alluded to above, in the process, the under-fire Uruguayan etched his name into the history books back in Catalunya’s capital.

As per ‘StatMuse’ on ‘X’, Araújo has equalled club legend Gerard Piqué and teammate Eric García as the player with the most Champions League red cards ever for Barcelona.
