A leading member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona could miss the upcoming Joan Gamper Trophy match through injury.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, who points towards Pau Cubarsí as the player in question.
The name of youngster Cubarsí has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines surrounding Barcelona on Monday.
This comes after the 18-year-old was forced into a premature departure from the club’s most recent pre-season outing.
En route to a 5-0 friendly thrashing of FC Daegu, Cubarsí was hauled off inside the closing exchanges, owing to a knee problem.
And though as much is not thought to be serious, it has thrown his participation in the upcoming Joan Gamper Trophy match into doubt.
As per a report from the aforementioned Javier Miguel:
‘He’s doubtful for Gamper (Sunday 10th, 9 PM, against Como), as he’ll need treatment and rest over the next few days, but he’ll be back in the league opener against Mallorca (Saturday, August 16th, 7:30 PM).’
