Barcelona star could return from injury two weeks early

A head-turning update on the wellbeing of Barcelona star Pedri has on Wednesday come to the fore online.

This comes amid confirmation that the 22-year-old is recovering from his latest injury much faster than initially forecast.

Pedri has for his part been sidelined since late last month, owing to a thigh issue.

Upon the extent of the injury being confirmed, it was widely reported that the Spanish international was facing up to five to six weeks on the treatment table.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word doing the rounds in Spain on Wednesday is anything to go by, then Pedri could in fact return to the pitch much sooner.

As per a report from Barcelona insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS:

‘His recovery is progressing very well, so much so that he could even play a few minutes against Athletic Bilbao in the first match after the international break.’

Any such appearance would mean the midfielder cutting two weeks off his initial recovery timeline.

It is also noted, though, that Barcelona will not take any unnecessary risks with Pedri, especially after seeing the damage recently done to Raphinha following his premature comeback.
