Barcelona star closing on Cristiano Ronaldo UCL record

Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski on Wednesday evening moved a step closer to a Champions League benchmark currently held by Cristiano Ronaldo.

This comes after the Pole found the net in the Blaugrana’s meeting with FC Copenhagen.

Hansi Flick’s troops are for their part fresh off closing out their league phase campaign in the Champions League with a comfortable victory.

After welcoming the aforementioned Copenhagen to Catalunya’s capital, Barca found themselves trailing by a goal to nil at the interval.

A rampaging 2nd-half, however, ultimately culminated in a 4-1 rout.

Along the way, Robert Lewandowski found himself amongst the goals once more, slotting home from close range after a perfect pass from Lamine Yamal.

And owing to as much, the former Bayern Munich man inched towards an all-time record currently owned by Champions League top-scorer Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per statisticians Opta:

‘Robert Lewandowski has scored 62 goals in 68 Champions League appearances since turning 30; only Cristiano Ronaldo (68) has netted more in the competition in his 30s.’
