Barcelona star Rodri has this week revealed his bemusement with teammate and midfield partner Pedri being overlooked for the upcoming Ballon d’Or.
The name of Spanish international Pedri of course suddenly emerged as a prominent one in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital earlier this month.
Upon the 30-man shortlist of candidates for the 2026 Ballon d’Or being unveiled by France Football, the 23-year-old was nowhere to be seen.
This was widely considered to be a snub on the part of those in charge of voting, with Pedri fresh off a La Liga and World Cup double.
Speaking during an appearance in front of the media this week, the aforementioned Rodri – amongst the ‘Golden Ball’ nominees – was therefore asked for his take on Pedri being overlooked.
And the summer arrival at Barcelona made use of the opportunity to assure to COPE (via Fabrizio Romano):
“Pedri had to be there, one of the best in the world last year.”
