A headline member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has requested that his contract with leading agent Ali Dursun be terminated with immediate effect.
That’s according to Blaugrana insider Gerard Romero, who points towards Frenkie de Jong as the player in question.
Midfielder De Jong of course spent the last few months reestablishing himself as nothing short of an integral figure at Barcelona.
After an injury-hit opening half of the term, the former Ajax man looked back to his brilliant best, playing a vital role at the base of manager Hansi Flick’s engine room.
And yet, as things stand, De Jong’s future remains far from clear.
The 28-year-old is due to see his contract terms expire in the summer of 2026, with little progress understood to have been made in talks over a new deal.
De Jong, in turn, appears ready to take matters into his own hands…
In a clear show of commitment to Barcelona, the Dutchman is understood to have made contact with his personal lawyer, in an effort to terminate his contract terms with agent Ali Dursun.
This comes with De Jong evidently of the opinion that Dursun is slowing down his renewal talks with those behind the scenes at the Camp Nou, eager to pen a new deal as soon as possible.
