Barcelona star Ronald Araújo has been granted some much-needed time away from the first-team setup in Catalunya’s capital.
This comes amid confirmation that the Uruguayan is struggling from a mental standpoint at present.
Stopper Araújo has of course emerged as public enemy no.1 on the part of the Barcelona faithful over the last week.
As much comes after the 26-year-old’s first-half red card cost his side dear in a Champions League trip to England to face Chelsea.
Araújo has since not been a part of either training or the matchday setup in Hansi Flick’s squad.
And early this week, an insight into precisely why has been forthcoming online.
The info comes courtesy of ESPN, who have confirmed that Araújo’s mental challenges actually emerged long before the trip to Stamford Bridge.
The South American, it is understood, has been ‘hindered’ throughout the season to date by such problems.
For this reason, Araújo recently requested some time off, in an attempt to put his mental and emotional woes behind him.
And this is a plea which Hansi Flick and co. were more than happy to grant.
