Barcelona star Joan García has revealed his take that he and his teammates were not deserving of victory based on their performance on Sunday.
Barca of course marked their return to action yesterday evening, making the trip to Madrid for a La Liga meeting with Rayo Vallecano.
The Blaugrana headed into proceedings in the knowledge that only a victory would be enough for them to keep pace with arch rivals Real Madrid atop the Spanish top-flight table.
When all was said and done, however, Hansi Flick’s troops were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
As much came after Lamine Yamal’s opener was cancelled out by Fran Pérez during the 2nd-half.
One of the few Barcelona stars to have departed Vallecas with his head held high was the aforementioned Joan García, who conjured up a Man of the Match performance on the night.
As alluded to above, though, the summer arrival in Catalunya’s capital is nevertheless fully aware that his side were not deserving of all three points.
Speaking to the media post-match, Joan admitted:
“We came here with the intention of winning three points, but we’re leaving with one. Given the way the game went, we didn’t deserve anything more.
“We didn’t play the way we wanted or planned. We didn’t deserve the victory.”
