The coaching staff at La Liga giants Barcelona have been left impressed by the early exploits of summer signing Anthony Gordon since his arrival in Catalunya’s capital.
That’s according to journalist Alex Pintanel, who has provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Hansi Flick’s Blaugrana squad.
Frontman Gordon is of course currently in the thick of preparations for the new La Liga campaign. After being afforded an extended break owing to his efforts with England at this summer’s World Cup, the former Newcastle man has since been busy familiarising himself with his new surroundings and teammates alike in Barcelona.
With Robert Lewandowski’s departure having this weekend been added to by that of Ferran Torres, Gordon could well be in line for a prominent role in Barca’s La Liga opener against Elche next weekend.
And as alluded to above, if the early signs are anything to go by, then expectations already appear to be mounting regarding the 25-year-old’s potential impact.
As per a report from Blaugrana insider Alex Pintanel:
‘The technical staff and Flick are impressed with Gordon. Physically, he is very strong, he has arrived in very good shape and he has adapted very well to the work dynamic with his teammates.’
