La Liga giants Barcelona moving ahead with a move for Ivan Perišić has late this week been labelled an increasingly likely possibility.
This comes amid confirmation that the Blaugrana boast a legitimate interest in the attacker’s services.
The name of wide-man Perišić has of course emerged as a prominent one in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over recent days.
This comes after surprise reports linking Barcelona with a move for the Croatian international were forthcoming in the media.
Perišić is fresh off an impressive campaign on the books of PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, which saw the 36-year-old rack up 16 goals and 11 assists.
Held in high regard by Hansi Flick owing to the pair’s time together at Bayern Munich, Perišić – available as a free agent – is in turn considered a potentially low cost, high reward addition by Deco and the Camp Nou brass.
And as alluded to above, despite claims elsewhere that the veteran is not considered a priority by Barca, the parties joining forces over the weeks ahead should nevertheless be viewed as a legitimate possibility.
As per a report from Blaugrana insider Adrian Sanchez:
‘Ivan Perišić to Barça is a real possibility. The Croatian player has been offered to the club through an intermediary, and the sporting directorate values his versatility, leadership, and zero cost. Flick would be his greatest supporter and he believes he would bring experience to a very young squad.’
