The board at La Liga champions Barcelona have put a maximum spending limit in place for the signing of Manchester City star Rodri this summer.
That’s according to COPE, who have on Thursday provided the latest on the situation.
Barcelona’s pursuit of midfielder Rodri is of course common knowledge across world football at this point. After Frenkie de Jong’s long-term injury forced the Blaugrana back into the market for reinforcements, the former Ballon d’Or winner was identified as the ideal engine room profile.
An agreement on the terms of a contract, in turn, was quickly found between the parties. The Camp Nou brass, though, have since found a similar accord with Manchester City altogether more difficult to come by.
On Thursday, Barca saw a 2nd official proposal for Rodri knocked back. And as alluded to above, an insight into the financial limits set out by Deco and co. for a player with less than 12 months remaining on his contract has in turn since surfaced.
The info comes courtesy of COPE, who report:
‘Barça’s second offer of €60M to City (has been) rejected. The Blaugrana do not intend to exceed €70M fixed.’
Significantly, it is also noted that ‘the parties have no doubt that the deal will go through’. Negotiations are set to continue over the days ahead.
