La Liga giants Barcelona are primed to receive a sizable fee from FIFA, for the respective efforts of their players at this summer’s World Cup.
The Blaugrana have been one of the most strongly represented clubs in all of football at the latest edition of the game’s most high-profile international tournament.
All told, 16 players from Hansi Flick’s ranks in Catalunya’s capital made the journey to North America earlier this summer.
Of this contingent, half have made it all the way to the World Cup finale, namely Joan García, Eric García, Pau Cubarsí, Gavi, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres.
Previously eliminated, meanwhile, were the likes of Jules Koundé, Ronald Araújo, Frenkie de Jong and Raphinha.
And according to Diario Sport, this strong showing for the reigning Spanish champions on the international stage will imminently benefit the club from a financial standpoint:
‘FIFA will pay 2,893,533 euros to the Catalans as compensation for the loan of their internationals, a figure that makes the Catalan entity one of the great beneficiaries of the championship.’
