Barcelona set an unwanted club record in win over Galatasaray

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona secured for themselves an unwanted place in the club’s storied history books, despite their eventual positive result on Tuesday.

Barca of course marked their return to action a short time ago, making the trip to Istanbul for a Champions League showdown with Turkish champions Galatasaray.

When all was said and done, the Blaugrana emerged on the right side of a 4-1 result, courtesy of goals on the part of all of João Cancelo, Fermín López, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi.

This made it a perfect 10 wins from 10 to open the new campaign for a Barca outfit in nothing short of spectacular form. As alluded to above, though, on an otherwise positive evening’s work, the Catalans also managed to make history for all the wrong reasons…

As revealed by Foot Mercato, after conceding during the first-half at RAMS Park:

‘FC Barcelona have strung together 17 consecutive matches without a single clean sheet in the Champions League! This is the worst streak in the club’s history in the competition!’
