La Liga giants Barcelona have forwarded a letter of heartfelt condolences to the club’s Baghdad-based supporter club.
This comes following the tragic events in a shopping mall in the city of Kut last week.
At least 60 people are understood to have lost their lives owing to a fire in the mall in question, chiefly as a result of smoke inhalation.
A large group of others were also left severely injured, with burns and other ailments.
News of the event has since been met with messages of encouragement and condolences from across the globe, in an effort to back the Iraqi people at what is a trying moment in the country’s recent history.
And as alluded to above, adding their names to this list over the last 24 hours were none other than FC Barcelona.
In a heartfelt letter sent to their side’s fan club in Baghdad, the Blaugrana expressed their sadness with the tragedy, offering their support and assuring that:
‘We remain at your disposal for anything you may need.’
