An insight into the opening offer tabled by La Liga giants Barcelona for a key member of the club’s summer transfer wishlist has on Thursday been provided.
The info comes courtesy of Diario Sport, and surrounds a first bid for RB Leipzig’s Dani Olmo.
The name of attacker Olmo has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital once more over the course of the last 24 hours.
This comes after word was forthcoming in the German media that Barcelona had taken a major step forward in their pursuit of the Spanish international.
As much came by way of an opening proposal for his signature.
The details of the approach were not initially detailed, with it having simply been confirmed that the RB Leipzig hierarchy had rejected it without so much as a 2nd thought.
As alluded to above, though, on Thursday, a more in-depth insight into the situation has been forthcoming.
And, as a result, it has become altogether more clear exactly why Barca’s advances were rebuffed…
As per a report from Diario Sport, the Blaugrana’s offer for Olmo, whose contract at the Red Bull Arena contains a €60 million release clause, was broken down as follows:
– €40 million fixed, split into four equal payments through January of 2028.
– €5 million for each league title won up to a maximum of two titles over the next five years
– €5 million more for each Champions League title that Barça wins with a maximum of two titles over the next five years
Sport go on to add that the proposal at hands was considered nothing short of “surreal” and “ridiculous” by RB Leipzig, who feel disrespected by the prospect of not receiving a single euro for one of their most important players until early next year.
Barcelona, in turn, have risked damaging their relationship with those in the boardroom at the Bundesliga outfit, a dangerous play in their efforts to bring Olmo back to the club this summer.
