The brass at Barcelona have knocked back a transfer approach on the part of La Liga rivals Real Betis.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Marc Bernal as the subject of the contact in question.
Midfielder Bernal is for his part of course in the midst of the final stages of his recovery from a long-term spell on the sidelines.
After suffering a ruptured ACL back in August of 2024, the Spaniard has spent the 12 months since working tirelessly towards a return to the pitch.
Bernal is expected to be gradually reintroduced to competitive action by Hansi Flick on the far side of the September international break.
As alluded to above, though, had another of the Spanish top-flight’s clubs had their way, the 18-year-old would have spent the weeks and months ahead ramping up his fitness on their books, instead.
As per a report from Sport:
‘Barcelona curbed the interest of Real Betis who wanted to have his loan to strengthen Manuel Pellegrini’s roster of players in midfield.’
