Barcelona & Real Madrid ready to ‘fight’ over Bundesliga star’s signing

Spanish football’s two biggest clubs are ready to go to war on the transfer market, in a bid to secure the signing of Borussia Dortmund star Nico Schlotterbeck.

That’s according to Fichajes, who have confirmed serious interest on the part of both Barcelona and Real Madrid in landing the German international.

Schlotterbeck is for his part widely expected to be on the move in the summer of 2026.

This comes with the defender’s contract terms due to expire 12 months later, and little progress having been made in talks over a renewal.

Dortmund, keen not to lose such a key player for free, are therefore expected to sanction a sale to the highest bidder.

And with as much in mind, both of the aforementioned Barcelona and Real Madrid are preparing to enter the fray.

On the lookout for reinforcements at the heart of defence with a view to next season, the Clásico rivals are ready to fight it out for Schlotterbeck’s services.

Also in the running for the 25-year-old, though, are reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.
